The Matilda II coin is the next in a series of exclusive Tank Museum collectable coins. This special coin features the Matilda II tank and is fourth out of six limited edition coins in Series 1.

The Matilda II was dominant in the Western Desert battlefield between the autumn of 1940 and the spring of 1941. The Matilda II first saw action at the Battle of Arras in 1940 and was the only British tank used throughout the Second World War. In North Africa their thick armour earned them the nickname ‘Queen of the Desert.’ However, they proved vulnerable as more powerful German guns appeared. They were last used by the British in June 1942, although the Australians in New Guinea kept them until the end of the war.

The first series will encompass tanks in the Museum's collection dating from 1939 - 1945 and the first tank in the collection is our world-famous Sherman tank as used in the film "Fury", available HERE. The second coin in our collection is a Churchill AVRE to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day HERE. The third tank is the infamous Tiger 131 HERE.

The coins will be strictly limited to 500 each, and are individually numbered so you will need to be quick!
