This publication aims to give the reader an insight into the concept, organisation, vehicle equipment, daily routines, exercises and missions of Formation Reconnaissance Regiment 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards (QDG) and other reconnaissance assets.
The Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment carries out long-range, ground-based manned reconnaissance for a larger military formation. The regiment gathers information mainly by armoured reconnaissance, but also by using battlefield surveillance systems such as radar, or ground-based or airborne sensors. Reconnaissance is subdivided into Reconnaissance of Situation, Reconnaissance Objective Area and Poststrike Reconnaissance.
